Cave Creek Discovery Road Ride

Date: Sunday, November 15, 2009

Parking Opens: 6am

Day of Registration and Packet Pick-up Opens: 6:30am  Please go to building West of Flat Tire Bike Shop at 6137 E. Cave Creek Rd.

Registration Close: 7:30am

Start Time: 8:00am

MP3 Players: Right ear only will be allowed. Please use your left ear to listen for cars and other cyclists.

Please Note: The routes have changed slightly due to some road deterioration and safety concerns. As a result, the routes are slightly longer than the 50 and 35 miles listed. The route map links below are current. Registrants will be given revised maps in their packets and the routes will be clearly marked with paint and road signs.

The Cave Creek "Discovery" ride takes a novel approach to a road ride. For those who want to fly down the road, that's certainly an option. But for those wanting to learn more about the history, landscape and culture of this scenic area while putting some miles on your bike, this is the ride for you.

Each registrant will receive a ride "passport" and at each stop along the 50 mile route, a page will be "stamped" with a handmade stamp depicting an important feature of the area. The passport will also contain a brief note about the area's significance to the region. The passport will also contain vendor pages. After the ride, registrants can take to passport to various local businesses and fair vendors for deals on special items. Registrants can keep the passports as mementos of the experience riding the back roads of Cave Creek.

Each registrant will also receive a green silicone wristband emblazoned with a message indicating your support of Open Space in Cave Creek.  The wristband is also your ticket to a complimentary lunch provided by the Silver Spur Saloon in Cave Creek.

For those who would like a shorter ride with less climbing, we are providing a 35-mile option. This route encompasses most of the more scenic areas of Cave Creek and Carefree without the major climb to Bartlett Dam Road and Sears Kay Ruin.  The ride will begin and end at the same location (Frontier Town).
